PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absolute steering position detection device for detecting an absolute steering position in a wide range with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: In this absolute steering position detection device 90, the first resolver 18 and the second resolver 20 detect a rotational position of a steering wheel 12 in the range over 0°and below 360°. A motor resolver 30 detects an electric angle of a motor 28 assisting steering by the steering wheel 12. A displacement sensor 60 detects the steering direction of the steering wheel 12. An EPSECU 100 detects the absolute steering position of the steering wheel 12 by utilizing the detected rotational position of the steering wheel 12, the detected electric angle of the motor and the detected steering direction, in a range where the absolute steering position of the steering wheel 12 cannot be determined by the detected rotational position of the steering wheel 12 and the detected electric angle of the motor 28.
