PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus, its control method and a program for obtaining a moving video image without user's feeling of incongruity caused by difference in aspect ratio, even if a still image is taken in the moving video image in a camera in which each aspect ratio of still image photography and moving video image photography can be set individually. SOLUTION: A still image to be embedded in a moving video image file is photographed in accordance with an aspect ratio of moving video image photography. The aspect ratio is changed by adding processing on the photographed still image, so the sill image file is formed with an aspect ratio for still image, and at the same time the sill image is embedded with the aspect ratio of the moving video image in the moving video image.
