DEVICES AND METHODS FOR DEFINED ORIENTATION OF AN EYE

The present solution concerns the orientation of an eye for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes, where the line of sight does not necessarily have to coincide with the optical axis of the examination or treatment appliance. The device according to the invention for orienting an eye consists of a fixing light source (4) for generating a positionable fixing mark (FM) and of a means for coupling this into a beam path of an ophthalmological appliance, through whose focusing optics (7) the fixing mark (FM) is projected onto the eye (6) to be examined and/or treated, and of a control unit with which the image (FM') of the fixing mark can be presented at different distances and angles in relation to the optical axis (5) of the ophthalmological appliance, such that the eye (6) to be examined and/or treated directs itself by foveal focussing at this fixing mark (FM) and assumes a defined position with respect to the optical axis (5) of the ophthalmological appliance. The proposed technical solution can in principle be applied in all ophthalmological appliances used for diagnostic and/or therapeutic purposes. However, the solution is of particular importance in observing and/or treating the anterior portions of the eye.
