A battery (1) is provided with charge influencing means to enable transfer to a lower charge state which is ideal with respect to storage or ageing, the charge influencing means comprising a Zener diode (5) connected in series with a resistance (4) and a switch (6) and in parallel with the battery. A battery voltage corresponding with the predetermined lower charge state is selected as breakdown voltage of the Zener diode (5). On manual actuation of the switch, the battery (1) is transferred to the lower charge state if the instantaneous charge state is higher than the predetermined lower charge state. A digital realisation by means of a digital circuit (8) switched on manually is also possible. |
