The present invention addresses the problem of providing a voice-based automatic transmission/reception switching method and device with which there is no risk that an unintended transmission will occur, even in situations such as those in which there is a large amount of sound from an external source, or situations in which other people are talking in a loud voice in the vicinity of the microphone. This voice-based automatic transmission/reception switching device comprises: a microphone 1; a microphone amplifier 2 which amplifies an audio signal, which has been converted into an electrical signal by the microphone 1, to a level allowing digital processing to be performed; a digital codec 3 which subjects the amplified audio signal to A/D conversion, and outputs the A/D converted signal to a speech extraction processing unit 4; and the speech extraction processing unit 4 which detects whether or not the A/D converted audio signal supplied from the digital codec 3 has speech signal characteristics, determines whether or not the frequency of said signal is equal to or higher than a predetermined low-frequency speech level, and outputs a PTT signal to a transceiver 10 only if the audio signal has speech signal characteristics and it has been determined that the frequency of the signal is equal to or higher than the predetermined low-frequency speech level. |
