METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING NON-SMALL CELL LUNG CANCER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting non-small cell lung cancer using differentially expressed genes, and to provide a method for identifying a compound for treating and preventing the non-small cell lung cancer.

SOLUTION: The method for diagnosing the non-small cell lung cancer or a predisposition to developing the non-small lung cancer in a biological sample derived from a subject is provided. In the method, an increase or a decrease of the level compared to a normal control level of the gene indicates that the subject suffers from or is at a risk of developing the non-small cell lung cancer. The method for identifying the compound that inhibits the expression or the activity of the non-small cell lung cancer-associated gene comprises (1) a step of bringing a test cell expressing the non-small cell lung cancer-associated gene into contact with a test compound; (2) a step of detecting the expression level of the non-small cell lung cancer-associated gene; and (3) a step of determining the compound that suppresses the expression level compared to the normal control level of the gene as an inhibitor of the non-small cell lung cancer-associated gene.
