<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the peripheral surface of an emitter efficiently emit light with an LED lens disposed on the center line of a rod-shaped emitter used as a light source. <P>SOLUTION: This light emitting device 1 includes a rod-shaped emitter 3, an LED lamp 10, and a lens 20 to converge light from the LED lamp onto the end face of the rod-shaped emitter.
