<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering shaft capable of improving an assembling property by assembling while spring force does not work, and to dispense with high machining accuracy in a spring member. <P>SOLUTION: The steering shaft has an inner shaft 2 and an outer shaft 3 fitted with each other to expand/contract in an axial direction and not to rotate. On an outer peripheral surface of the inner shaft 2 and an inner peripheral surface of the outer shaft 3, three sets of outer peripheral grooves 2a-2c and inner peripheral grooves 3a-3c respectively extending in the axial direction and opposing to each other, are formed at predetermined intervals. With the three sets of the outer peripheral grooves 2a-2c and the inner peripheral grooves 3a-3c, balls 4a-4c are respectively fitted. A spring member 7 is provided which energizes the inner shaft 2 in a diametrical direction from two directions through pressing members 5, 6 inserted in through-holes 3d, 3e of the outer shaft 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
