A liquid crystal display device is provided. The liquid crystal display device according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a first substrate, a first alignment layer located on the first substrate, a second substrate facing the first substrate, a second alignment layer located on the second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer which is located between the first alignment layer and the second alignment layer and includes liquid molecules and reactive mesogen. Each of the first alignment layer and the second alignment layer includes main chain and side chain connected to the main chain. The side chain of at least one of the first alignment layer and the second alignment layer includes photo-reactors or photo-reactor derivatives. So, an afterimage can be prevented by maximizing the reactivity of the reactive mesogen.
