<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-ejection detecting method which enables non-ejection processing liquid nozzles not ejecting a processing liquid to be correctly detected while a colored ink is almost prevented from adhering to a conveying means that conveys a recording medium, and to provide a non-ejection detecting device. <P>SOLUTION: A processing liquid deposited pattern is formed to the recording medium, wherein a linear non-ejection detection objective region in which a processing liquid deposited region continuously deposited with the processing liquid and a processing liquid non-deposited region not continuously deposited with the processing liquid continue at selected processing liquid nozzles of non-ejection detection objects, and wherein the processing liquid is continuously deposited at remaining processing liquid nozzles. A linear colored ink image is formed to the recording medium by ejecting a colored ink from corresponding ink nozzles of the selected processing liquid nozzles towards the non-ejection detection objective region. The image is read by a detection sensor, and the presence or absence of non-ejection of the selected processing liquid nozzles is detected by detecting a change of density and line width of the image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
