The method involves determining a desired fuel flow i.e. set point flow, determined by a regulator (12), at a determined frequency i.e. set point frequency. Flow of fuel corresponding to the set point flow is injected in an exhaust line (3) at a determined frequency i.e. set off frequency, when the set point flow is greater than or equal to a threshold flow for operation of an additional injector (13). The set point flow equal to the threshold operational flow of the injector is determined based on the set off frequencies and the set point. Fuel corresponding to the set point flow is injected. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling the fuel supply of exhaust line of an internal combustion engine, comprising a set point flow determining unit.
