The excitation stage comprises a defined number of semiconductor amplification modules (61-6N) mounted in parallel at the input of a coupling device (8) for coupling the outputs of the amplification modules (61 to 6N) at the input of the transmitter valve (2) as well as a diode-type peak limiting device arranged within the coupling device (8) to limit the short-circuit pulses of the electrodes of the transmitter valve (2) which appear at the output of the coupling device (8).
