<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the degradation of an electrolyte membrane or the like concerning a fuel cell system. <P>SOLUTION: At stopping of a fuel cell 2, a control unit 5 controls a compressor 31 to set a flow volume of oxidization gas at a predetermined volume as a process on a cathode electrode side, and controls a back pressure regulation valve 34 to make a pressure of oxidization gas on the cathode electrode side to be pressure Pa. At the same time, as an anode electrode side process, the control unit controls a main stop valve 43 to stop supply of hydrogen gas, and makes the fuel cell 2 generate power to lower a pressure of hydrogen gas on the anode electrode side down to pressure Pb.
