PURPOSE: A thumb-nail picture management method of rewritable recording media is provided to reduce load of player and to optimize recording area of thumb-nail picture. CONSTITUTION: The thumb-nail picture management method comprises steps of: extracting and recording a thumb-nail picture from recording data; recording information to management data in response to extracted the thumb-nail picture wherein the information indicates potential deleting state of thumb-nail picture; confirming potential deleting state and recording to thumb-nail picture recording area in response to potential deleting state.
