PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic tape and a magnetic tape cartridge capable of suppressing deformation caused by a load received due to a loading operation of a magnetic recording and reproducing device. SOLUTION: The magnetic tape is accommodated in the cartridge in such a state that it is wound around a tape reel and is drawn out from the cartridge upon magnetic recording and reproduction. The magnetic tape includes a splice tape splicing a leader tape. In a peripheral shape of the splice tape, a corner part thereof in a width direction of the magnetic tape is cut at a side where it is stuck on the magnetic tape. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
