PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate and decelerate uniform acceleration enabling position control with a stepping motor in a simple composition. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes; a pulse generating part generating stepping pulse which can be varied continuously in order to accelerate or decelerate the uniform acceleration by calculating a target velocity value based on an arithmetic expression, counting clock pulse in a prescribed cycle, and generating the stepping pulse when a count value for the clock pulse is matched to the target velocity value; a driving part supplying driving pulse to the stepping motor based on the stepping pulse from the pulse generating part; a pulse output control part counting the number of pulse in the stepping pulse on receiving a number of pulse set value meaning the stepping pulse necessary according to a moving position or the target value for the moving amount and shutting off supplying of the stepping pulse to the driving part from the pulse generating part when the stepping pulse is matched with the number of pulse set value; and a stepping motor driven on receiving supply of the driving pulse from the driving part.
