PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination system provided with a plurality of luminaires each lit and controlled in response to a detection signal by a human sensor, and lighting only a lamp desired by a person. SOLUTION: This illumination system 1 includes the plurality of luminaires 3. The luminaire 3 has the human sensor 5 outputting a detection signal 4 when receiving an infrared ray radiated by a person, a control part 6 lighting a lamp 2 in response to the output of the detection signal 4, and a radio signal reception/transmission part 8 transmitting/receiving a radio signal 7 according to the number of times of output of the detection signals 4. The control part 6 lights the lamp 2 in response to the output of the detection signal 4 by the human sensor 5, and reception of the radio signal 7 by the radio signal transmission/reception part 8. Thereby, the illumination system 1 can control the operations of the respective luminaires 3 by exchanging the radio signals 7 among predetermined luminaires 3 according to the number of times of output, whereby only a necessary lamp can be lit according to a movement of a person.
