An ostomy system comprising a stretchable belt and a disposable ostomy unit. The stretchable belt comprises a band of stretchable material, a reinforced ring opening, a belt pouch surrounding the reinforced ring opening and belt fasteners. The disposable ostomy unit is comprised of an absorbent wafer and a waste bag that are adhesively connected together, where the absorbent side of the wafer faces the user's skin and the distal side of the wafer is adhesively connected to a circular flange of the waste bag. In use, the waste bag of the disposable ostomy unit is inserted through the reinforced ring opening of the stretchable belt and into the belt pouch until the reinforcing ring opening abuts against the circular flange of the waste bag. The disposable ostomy unit is then aligned with the stoma and placed on the peristomal skin. The absorbent wafer does not have skin adhesive on the skin side surface. The disposable ostomy unit is secured in the correct position on the peristomal skin by fastening the stretchable belt around the user's torso using the belt fasteners, where the reinforced ring opening of the stretchable belt applies pressure onto the circular flange of the waste bag, the absorbent wafer and persitomal skin. |
