PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a sense of discomfort hard to be given to a self-vehicle occupant when the self-vehicle is automatically steering-controlled so as to follow a preceding vehicle.SOLUTION: A vehicle control device comprises: a follow-up travel indication unit 27 which causes a self-vehicle to execute preceding vehicle follow-up control for automatically steering-controlling so as to follow a preceding vehicle; an other-vehicle information acquisition unit 24 which acquires transmission information, which includes the front situation of the preceding vehicle, transmitted from the preceding vehicle through inter-vehicle communication; and a cross-over presence/absence determination unit 29 which determines the presence/absence of probability of the preceding vehicle crossing over a lane line to the opposite lane side on the basis of the front situation of the preceding vehicle acquired by the other-vehicle information acquisition unit 24. The follow-up travel indication unit 27 causes the self-vehicle to stop the preceding vehicle follow-up control in response to the determination by the cross-over presence/absence determination unit 29, of the probability of the preceding vehicle crossing over a lane line.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
