<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing MgO-based ceramics suitable for an optical material by a simple process. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing MgO-based ceramics comprises: a first stage S1 where the powder of MgO as the first component and the powder of at least one kind of oxide selected from the group consisting of the oxides of Fe, Ni, Co, Cu, Mn and Zn as the second component are mixed to form solid solution powder in which the second component is solid-solubilized in the first component; a second stage S2 where the solid solution powder is molded to obtain a molded body; and a third stage S3 where the molded body is sintered to obtain a sintered compact. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
