<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a face authentication device and an access management system, having high convenience on operation, efficiently registering the biological information of a person to be admitted. <P>SOLUTION: A face authentication device 1 is provided with a function for data communication with a main entrance unit 2 for controlling the access through a door, and configured to, when it is decided that a passer-by is a registrant to be admitted by authentication processing based on the face image, transmit a signal to permit the access of the passer-by to the main entrance unit, and to, when it is not decided that the passer-by is the registrant not to be admitted by the authentication processing based on the face image, temporarily store the face image of the passer-by.
