The present invention pertains to a method for producing a lithium metal complex oxide having a layered structure, and is capable of effectively reducing unreacted lithium compounds remaining in the lithium metal complex oxide. The present invention proposes a method for producing a lithium metal complex oxide (B) having a layered structure and represented by general formula (1): Li1+xNi1-α-β-γMnαCoβMγO2 (wherein, 0≤x≤0.1, 0.01≤α≤0.35, 0.01≤β≤0.35, and 0≤γ≤0.1 are satisfied, and M includes at least one element selected from the group consisting of Al, Mg, Ti, Fe, Zr, W, and Nb), and the method comprises a first step for obtaining, through prebaking at 400°C-850°C, a lithium metal complex oxide (A) represented by general formula (2): Li1+xNi1-α-β-γMnαCoβMγO2 (wherein, -0.7≤x≤-0.05, 0.01≤α≤0.35, 0.01≤β≤0.35, and 0≤γ≤0.1 are satisfied, and M includes at least one element selected from the group consisting of Al, Mg, Ti, Fe, Zr, W, and Nb), and a second step for obtaining the lithium metal complex oxide (B) by mixing a lithium compound with the lithium metal complex oxide (A) obtained at the first step, and final-baking the mixture at 700°C-1000°C. |
