PURPOSE: A cathode for a cathode-ray tube, and manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve electron emission performance and increase lifetime thereof. CONSTITUTION: Disclosed is a cathode for a cathode-ray tube comprising a sleeve(11), an outer sleeve(11'), porous tungsten pallet(12) and an electron emission material layer(14). A heater is inserted into the sleeve(11) which is formed as a cup shape. The outer sleeve(11') is installed on upper and outer surface of the sleeve(11). The porous tungsten pallet(12) impregnated by electron emission material is fixed in the outer sleeve(11'). The electron emission material layer(14) is formed on the porous tungsten pallet(12). Thereby, adhesive force between the electron emission material layer(14) and a nickel-gas metal(2) is increased, so that electron emission performance is improved and the lifetime is increased.
