The carrier has a mirror body (2) that is manufactured from an aluminum alloy with a pre-determined silicon concentration, and a polishing layer (3) that is arranged on the mirror body. The concentration in the alloy is selected in such a manner that the thermal expansion coefficient of the body is adjusted to the thermal expansion coefficients of the polishing layer. The layer has a polished surface with specified roughness. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a mirror with a mirror carrier (2) a method for manufacturing a mirror carrier.
