<p>A process for producing a bisindenylalkane compound represented by the formula (3): (3) (wherein R<SUP>1</SUP> to R<SUP>4</SUP> may be the same or different and each represents hydrogen, C<SUB>1-4</SUB> alkyl, or aryl; and R<SUP>5</SUP> represents methylene or C<SUB>2-4</SUB> alkylene), which comprises reacting an indene compound which has undergone lithiation (hereinafter, referred to as lithioindene compound) represented by the formula (1): (1) (wherein R<SUP>1</SUP> to R<SUP>4</SUP> are the same as defined above) with a disubstituted alkane represented by the formula (2): X<SUP>1</SUP>-R<SUP>5</SUP>-X<SUP>2</SUP> (2) (wherein R<SUP>5</SUP> is the same as defined above; and X<SUP>1</SUP> and X<SUP>2</SUP> may be the same or different and each represents a leaving group), characterized in that the reaction is conducted while feeding at least the lithioindene compound to the reaction system.</p> |
