PROCESS FOR PRODUCING BISINDENYLALKANE COMPOUND

A process for producing a bisindenylalkane compound represented by the formula (3): (3) (wherein R¹ to R⁴ may be the same or different and each represents hydrogen, C_1-4 alkyl, or aryl; and R⁵ represents methylene or C_2-4 alkylene), which comprises reacting an indene compound which has undergone lithiation (hereinafter, referred to as lithioindene compound) represented by the formula (1): (1) (wherein R¹ to R⁴ are the same as defined above) with a disubstituted alkane represented by the formula (2): X¹-R⁵-X² (2) (wherein R⁵ is the same as defined above; and X¹ and X² may be the same or different and each represents a leaving group), characterized in that the reaction is conducted while feeding at least the lithioindene compound to the reaction system.
