Provided is a mite composition comprising: - a rearing population of a phytoseiid predatory mite species, - a factitious host population, - and a carrier for individuals of said populations, wherein the factitious host population comprises at least one species selected from the family of the Carpoglyphidae, and wherein the phytoseiid predatory mite species is selected from: the subfamily of the Amblyseiinae,- the subfamily of the Typhlodrominae. Further provided is a method of rearing and rearing systems for predatory mites using the composition as well as use of the composition for control of various crop pests.
