PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for determining authenticity of a security medium including a reflective volume hologram, which can easily determine authenticity, a method for determining authenticity of a security medium including a reflective volume hologram, and a security medium including a reflective volume hologram.SOLUTION: A device 1 for determining authenticity of a security medium 10 including a reflective volume hologram 2 includes: a light source L disposed on a top surface side to emit light to be incident to the reflective volume hologram 2; a first observation device 11 disposed in a preliminarily designed diffraction direction of the reflective volume hologram 2; and a second observation device 12 disposed in a direction out of the preliminarily designed diffraction direction of the reflective volume hologram 2. The device determines the reflective volume hologram 2 as authentic under such conditions that, when light from the light source L including a preliminarily designed diffraction wavelength is made to be incident to the reflective volume hologram 2, the light observed by the first observation device 11 shows a higher level of luminous energy at the diffraction wavelength than luminous energy at any other wavelengths, while the light observed by the second observation device 12 shows a lower level of luminous energy at the diffraction wavelength than luminous energy at any other wavelengths.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
