PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound machine 100 capable of achieving both the reduction in first printing time and the prevention of damage to a sheet.SOLUTION: A compound machine 100 comprises: fixation temperature detection means 403 that detects the fixation temperature of a fixation device used for printing; sheet residual detection means 404 that detects the sheet residual in a sheet feed cassette selected in the setting conditions of the printing; and sheet feed tray lifting and lowering control means 405 that lifts the sheet feed tray of the selected sheet feed cassette to a prescribed upper limit position and holds the tray there when the detected fixation temperatures is a printable temperature or when the detected sheet residual corresponds to the number of sheets immediately after replenishment of sheets, and that lifts the sheet feed tray to the upper limit position and then lowers the sheet feed tray by the lowering distance corresponding to the sheet residual when the fixation temperatures is lower than a printable temperature and when the sheet residual does not correspond to the number of sheets immediately after replenishment of sheets.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
