<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of making a composite diamond body having improved compression characteristics and improved strength of a compressed body. <P>SOLUTION: In the method of making the composite diamond body, the composite diamond body is made from powder comprising diamond particles, powder for forming a binder phase containing cobalt powder having an fcc-structure and 0.2-2.9 μm particle diameter (FSSS) with a compression operation and a sintering operation.
