<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding seal exhibiting a stable sealing function over a long period of time by having a sliding lip in contact with a mating member with low contact surface pressure and in a stable attitude. <P>SOLUTION: The sliding seal includes a base X-part 10, and strut projecting parts 20, 21 provided nearer toward fixed lips 4, 5 than a central line C.
