PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing ions and an apparatus for removing ions, with which dissolved oxygen in treated water is removed therefrom in ion removal with an ion adsorption electrode.SOLUTION: In a method for removing ions, in which: an adsorption step to adsorb ions in water to be treated 110 to an ion adsorption electrode by applying voltage between a pair of ion adsorption electrodes 102; and an ion elimination step to eliminate the ions adsorbed to the pair of ion adsorption electrodes from the pair of ion adsorption electrodes by short circuiting between the pair of ion adsorption electrodes which has adsorbed the ions in the adsorption step, are repeated, the method has: a hydrogen generation step to generate hydrogen by applying voltage generated from the ion adsorption electrode in the ion elimination between hydrogen generation electrodes in a state in which the pair of hydrogen generation electrodes 116, 117 are disposed in ion-concentrated water 121 generated in the ion elimination step by ion elimination; and a step to remove dissolved oxygen in water to be treated by making hydrogen generated in the hydrogen generation step dissolve in the water to be treated.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
