PURPOSE:To prevent a translated word corresponding to a modification phrase from being displayed by the designating operation of a user because a sentence is not only hardly read but also contents meant by the sentence are hardly comprehended due to that the translated sentence has a lot of modification phrases when the machine translation device faithfully translates a sentence, in which a noun or the like is accompanied with lot of modification phrases, as it is. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with an analysis part 5 to output the level of the modification phrase to be displayed as the translated word at the same time as the analyzed result of the sentence and a level calculation part 7 to calculate the level of the modification word to be suppressed corresponding to the designating operation of the user and the level of the modification word and as the modification word levels, there are a level '1' for the simple modification word and a level '2' for further modifying the modification word. Concerning the noun phrase of 'verybigapple' in English, for example, 'big' has the level '1' since it is the modification word modifying 'apple' and 'very' has the level '2' since it is the modification word modifying a modification word 'big'. |
