The invention relates to an omnidirectional monitoring device comprising a wide-angle lens (6) of the "fish-eye" type, a cable (strand) (1) of optical fibres, which is divided into n branches (B1 to Bn) and comprising two ends, the first end (2) being in the plane of image formation of the lens (6) and the second end being composed of n exit faces (S1 to Sn) of the n branches (B1 to Bn), each exit face being associated with a matrix detector (D1 to Dn) for projecting thereon part of the image formed by the lens (6).
