PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating method by water-soluble coating material which is effectively used at a low cost as mass-productive coating of the body of an automobile by enhancing quality of a coating film in water-soluble coating material and solving nonconformity such as drying characteristics, waste coating liquid disposal properties and line trouble in a coating process. SOLUTION: Coating by water-soluble coating material is performed by feeding the coating material diluted by pure water from a coating tank 2 to a spray gun G through a coating line P and feeding atomized pattern air to the spray gun G through an air line A. In this case, ozonized air is produced by an ozonized air-generating part 5 equipped in the first half part of the air line A and thereafter, the ozonized air is fed to the spray gun G and coating is performed by the spray gun.
