摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency in prediction by adaptively switching a mode of finding a predictive image through geometrical transform and a mode of finding the predictive image through parallel moving for each block. <P>SOLUTION: A grid point motion estimating part 2 resulting from dividing an image estimates that to which position on a source image a grid point on a reference image moves for each block. A parallel movement vector determining part 16 finds a motion vector (parallel movement vector) when the block itself parallel moves, a motion compensation predictive part 4 performs motion compensation prediction using geometrical transform, a motion compensation predictive part 5 performs motion compensation prediction using a parallel movement, and the outputted predictive images are fed to a predictive image selecting part 6. The predictive image selecting part 6 adaptively selects a predictive image for each block and outputs the predictive image and predictive mode information.
