A back light unit including a light guide plate having prisms and dots is provided to reduce the manufacturing cost and prevent a decrease in luminance and moire by integrating prisms with the light guide plate and efficiently disperse light emitted from a light source over the entire area of the light guide plate by forming dots on the light guide plate. A back light unit includes a light source(10), a light guide plate(50), a reflection sheet(60), and a prism sheet(70). Dots for dispersing light emitted from the light source are formed on one face of the light guide plate. The horizontal side and the vertical side of the face of the light guide plate are respectively defined as an X axis and a Y axis, and a virtual grid is formed on the face. The dots are formed in the virtual grid in a high density along the Y axis. A plurality of prisms are formed on the other face of the light guide plate. The reflection sheet is located behind the light guide plate. The prism sheet includes a plurality of prisms arranged perpendicularly to the prisms of the light guide plate to refract and condense the light emitted from the light source. |
