<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image coding apparatus and an image coding method, wherein image deterioration at boundary parts of a plurality of regions resulting from dividing an input image is improved and information transfer is made efficient. <P>SOLUTION: The image coding apparatus includes a plurality of coding means for dividing the input image into a plurality of regions and coding each region, and integrates and outputs each of coded compression region information items, wherein each coding means includes: a reference frame storage section; a motion compensation section for referring to a reference frame to apply motion compensation to a coding object region; a compression processing section for applying compression processing to the coding object region; a coding section for coding the compressed region; a compression region information capture section for capturing compression region information of the other coding means; a decoding section for decoding the compression region information captured by the compression region information capture section to obtain a compression regions of the other coding means; and a reference image generating section that generates part of a reference image of the input image on the basis of the compression region of the other coding means or the compression region by the compression processing section to store the part to the reference frame storage section. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
