<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce heat generation from inverters even when an engine is left idling or slow running is continued after high load running of a hybrid electric vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The hybrid electric vehicle 10 comprises the engine 22 and motors MG1 and MG2 as drive sources. A hybrid ECU 70 outputs control signals to an engine ECU 24 and a motor ECU 40 such that the engine 22 performs an intermittent operation in which working and idling periods alternate and that the motor MG1 or MG2 is powered by the engine 22 to generate electrical power in the working periods. The motor ECU 40 sets a lower carrier frequency to the inverter 41 or 42 in the idling periods than in the working periods if the vehicle speed is lower than a predetermined threshold speed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
