The present invention relates to the technical field of communications, and especially relates to an optical burst data packet transmission method and apparatus, which are used to solve the technical problem of high packet loss rate resulted from optical burst data packet transmission on the basis of multiple channels in an Optical Burst Switching (OBS) network. In embodiments of the present invention, a source edge node may transmit an information query control packet to a destination edge node, each core switching node receiving the information query control packet has to process the usage information carried thereon, so that the information query control packet carries the usage information of the whole link when reaching the destination edge node finally; the destination edge node transmits the usage information back to the source edge node, and the source edge node may determine the channels for transmitting the optical burst data packets according to the information. Thus, the condition of the channels, which could be used in the whole transmission path, could be determined before optical burst data packet transmission; it is avoided as far as possible that the optical burst data packets are dropped due to lack of channels in the middle of transmission, and the packet loss rate in the OBS network could be reduced. |
