PURPOSE:To furnish an organic photovoltaic element showing a high conversion characteristic. CONSTITUTION:In regard to an organic photovoltaic element having a laminate of an electron accepting organic substance layer forming a rectifying junction and an electron donating organic substance layer between two electrodes at least one of which has a light-transmitting property, an organic photovoltaic element in which the electron accepting organic substance layer is constituted of a perylene derivative formed in a film by a vapor growth method and this film is a mixed film of amorphous and crystalline grains and occupies such a volume as to make it possible for the crystalline grains to come into contact with each other.
