<p>PURPOSE:To detect the position of an object placed in a concealed place, e.g. buried in the ground, definitely by forming the original image of cross-section at a concealed place based on the time difference between electromagnetic wave radiated along the concealed place and the reflected wave from the object. CONSTITUTION:In order to search a pipe 2 for transporting a fluid, e.g. a gas, buried in the soil 1 on the ground, a transmission circuit 4 generates pulses to an antenna 3 which radiates electromagnetic wave onto the soil 1. Reflected wave from the pipe 2 is received by a receiving antenna 7 which delivers an output to a receiving circuit 8. A circuit 9 for processing the output from the receiving circuit 8 is connected with a memory 11 storing the original image of the vertical cross-section of the soil 1 including the pipe 2. The original image stored in the memory 11 comprises white and black arcuate images 13, 14 corresponding to the pipe 2. These images 13, 14 are symmetrical to each other with respect to a line extending in parallel with the depth direction of the soil 1. The combinational opening is then operated based on the content of original image stored in the memory 11.</p> |
