The tightener has a machine part (1) having a clamping unit (2) and a cooperating counterpart (3) in a second machine part (4). The unit has an axially adjustable clamping element (6) and plier elements (7) with a clamping surface (19) radially movable by an axial shift to an opposite (20) counterpart surface. The counterpart surface is arranged in an outer part, or intermediate part. The intermediate part has an outer part with separate connected internal bars. The intermediate part and the plier elements have placing elements adjustable in different directions relative to the outer part.
