PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image compression method and an image compression device, which can restrain deterioration of an improvement effect on image quality and a viewing angle when gradation is expressed in multiple pixel groups and can reduce data capacity, and to provide a display device equipped with the image compression device. SOLUTION: An image processing device IP, which processes images displayed on display pixels (PX) disposed in a matrix shape, is equipped with an image source forming means 101, which forms an image source 110 composed of multiple pieces of intensity data, whose arrangement is allocated on the basis of, a dividing means 102, which divides the intensity data by the intensity data group to which intensity is allocated from the image source 110 on the basis of the same intensity allocation rule, and an encoding means 103, which encodes the strength data by the pixel data group divided by the dividing means 102.
