PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce trouble for retrieving an object in performing image retrieval several number of times or in reconfirming retrieval results. SOLUTION: The featured values of an object to be retrieved are selected from a database 11 in which the featured value information of an object is at least registered, and the database 11 is retrieved based on the featured values so that the object can be narrowed down, and the retrieval processes and the retrieval results are registered in a retrieval history database 15. Then, the prescribed retrieval history information is selected from the retrieval history information registered in the retrieval history database 15 so that the candidates of the object to be retrieved can be narrowed down.
