PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid state detection sensor capable of determining precisely whether liquid has frozen or not by detecting an abnormality of a current carrying path including a resistor. SOLUTION: When a current is made to flow through the current carrying path including the resistor provided in a liquid property detection element, the liquid state detection sensor for detecting the state of liquid stored in a liquid storage container acquires the first corresponding value corresponding to the first resistance value of the resistor, and then determines the temperature of the liquid on the periphery of the liquid state detection sensor based on the first corresponding value. Thereafter, the sensor compares the temperature of the peripheral liquid with the first temperature, to thereby determine whether the liquid has frozen or not (S52), and further compares the temperature of the peripheral liquid with the second temperature which is lower than the first temperature, to thereby determined whether the current carrying path is in an abnormal state or not (S60).
