PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for acquiring a service in a multi-mode system are provided to attempt independently location registration to a communications system in a next order in case a communications system initially selected in the priority rejects location registration, thereby acquiring a service. CONSTITUTION: A communications module(510) performs communications with other nodes. A controller(520) attempts location registration to a communications module having the highest priority through the communications module. In case the location registration is rejected, the controller attempts the location registration to a communications system having the next priority. Before the controller attempts the location registration to the communications system having the highest priority, the controller decides the priority.
