The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for recognizing a driving lane of a vehicle. The driving lane recognizing apparatus comprises: a sensor module including an image sensor obtaining image data on the front and the side of a vehicle; a control module for generating a virtual lane by analyzing the image data in the front of the vehicle, and recognizing a driving lane of the vehicle depending on a comparing result of a side lane extracted from the image data in the side of the vehicle, and the virtual lane; and an output module for outputting the driving lane.
