The method involves forming a housing (4), whose shape and dimensions of the housing correspond to shape and outer dimensions of a right projection of insert (10) on a covering plane, in a sheet (1) of floor covering, where the sheet is made of thermoplastic material, rubber or synthetic elastomer. The insert is positioned in the housing, where the housing is formed on an upper face (1a) of the sheet and a depth (p) of the housing is less than thickness of the sheet to permit intactness of lower face (1b) of the sheet. The housing is realized by permanent deformation of the material. An independent claim is also included for a floor covering formed of sheet of thermoplastic material, rubber or synthetic material, comprising an insert placed in housing.
