PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute the thread cutting operation accurately anytime by controlling the operation timing of a thread cutting scalpel highly accurately. SOLUTION: This sewing machine has a thread cutter means for cutting a thread when the sewing operation is completed by driving the thread cutter scalpel of a thread cutter unit 20. The sewing machine also has a servo-motor 40 for rotatively driving a sewing machine main spindle 18A and the CPU unit 10 constituting a pulse signal generating means for generating a pulse signal corresponding to an equally divided angle of one turn of the main spindle of the sewing machine and a control means for controlling the timing of driving the thread cutter scalpel based on the generated pulse signal.
