PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably start a brushless motor irrespective of a load state in the case of starting the motor by using both a position detecting operation and a synchronous operation. SOLUTION: A method for controlling the brushless motor comprises the steps of starting the motor and thereafter mode transferring to the phase detecting operation. The method also comprises the steps of conducting the synchronous operation for switching a current flowing phase of the motor according to a drive pattern for maintaining an applied voltage constant and a frequency variable (steps ST4, ST5), and detecting a position of a rotor from the start of starting the synchronous operation. The method further comprises the steps of monitoring a current flowing state at the synchronous operation time and a phase state of the rotor with respect to a revolving magnetic field by the position detecting state (steps ST5, ST6), switching the current flowing phase of the motor with the position detection synchronization when the phases coincide (step ST7), and thereafter executing a process for conducting the position detecting operation (step ST8). |
